Los Alcazeras is a much bigger village more lively with an abundance of shops, restaurants, tapas bars, ice-cream bars, and coffee shops, located around the beachfront of the Mar Menor. There is a communal swimming pool for your use. There are several golf courses in the surrounding area within 5 minutes drive from the apartment, e.g. Roda golf has an excellent 18 hole par 72 golf course, exclusively designed by Dave Thomas, one of the most prestigious European golf designers. Also Polaris world golf which is an 18 hole Nicklaus signature golf course.
The warm shallow, therapeutic bay waters of the Mar Menor are 5 mins drive away ideal for young children. The Mar Menor is perfect for many water sports, including windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing, and sailing. La manga is nearby with its renowned tennis facilities.
The Mar Menor (the minor sea) is separated from the Mediterranean by a strip of sand 22km long, which forms a barrier and has created a shallow, warm lagoon. There are over 44km of beaches with protected bays and coves on the sides of the Mar Menor. The water is no more than 7m at its deepest point, this and the absence of tides make the Mar Menor an excellent location for all types of water sports as well as an ideal place for children. Mar Menor's waters warm up early in the spring and stay at a fairly consistent temperature throughout the year, on average the waters are 2 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. Traditionally a holiday resort, the Mar Menor coasts are becoming popular as a residential area. The concentration of salt and iodine in the water of the lagoon is reputed to be beneficial to sufferers of rheumatism and skin complaints. This large saltwater lake has ideal climatic conditions (315 days of sunshine per year and an average annual temperature of 18ºC) for the continuous practice of water sports.
For me the area is perfect. We are located in a traditional Spanish village amongst the orange grooves. The peace and tranquillity is ideal for you to wind down and relax as soon as you arrive. Within 5 minutes drive you can be playing golf on a beautiful course, swimming in the warm waters of the Mar Menor, sampling the Spanish cousine in los alcazeras, kite surfing, windsurfing, water skiing sailing, snorkelling, not all at once! I just prefer to relax on the beach with the sun on my back! San Javier airport is only 10 minutes from your accommodation. |
